Dr Lee Boon Yang, the Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts, will attend the Third Meeting of the ASEAN and ASEAN+3 Ministers Responsible for Culture and Arts (AMCA) at Nay Pyi Taw, Union of Myanmar from 12-14 January 2008.
2 Myanmar is the host for the third AMCA. The Ministers will discuss initiatives to enhance cultural cooperation among the ASEAN countries. They will also have meetings with the three countries, namely, the People’s Republic of China, Japan and Republic of Korea.
3 During the visit, Dr Lee will also attend the opening ceremony of the Third ASEAN Festival of Arts (AFA). The AFA is a regional cultural event and the theme for this year is “Asians Puppetry Heritage”. Singapore will be represented by The Finger Players, whose unique brand of puppet theatre has won awards in Singapore and recognition around the world .
4 Dr Lee will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts.
