Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports, and Second Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA), will visit the United States of America from 24 January to 1 February 2008 to promote Singapore’s initiatives in the Interactive and Digital Media (IDM) sector.

2 He will visit IDM companies in San Francisco Bay Area, and media & animation studios in Los Angeles. He will also meet industry leaders to discuss the latest IDM developments in the US and evaluate opportunities in Singapore.

3 During his visit, Dr Balakrishnan will meet Singaporeans working in California as part of Singapore’s ongoing efforts to reach out to overseas Singaporeans. It will be an opportunity to share with them the exciting opportunities emerging from Singapore’s ongoing R&D initiatives in the IDM sector.

4 Dr Balakrishnan will be accompanied by officials from MICA, the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore and the Media Development Authority of Singapore.
