MR TSANG TAK-SING, SECRETARY FOR HOME AFFAIRS, HONG KONG VISITS SINGAPORE

 

Mr Tsang Tak-sing, Secretary for Home Affairs, Hong Kong is on his first official visit to Singapore from 16 to 19 March 2008 at the invitation of Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts, Dr Lee Boon Yang.

2 This morning, both ministers met in MICA Building and had a good discussion on the developments in the arts, design and heritage sectors. Singapore and Hong Kong enjoy good cultural co-operation at both the official and private levels. There are also active exchanges on the literary arts and design fronts. The ministers discussed how the two countries could further promote and enhance this relationship in existing and new areas, for example, in bringing our visual arts exhibitions to Hong Kong.

3 Mr Tsang will meet Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports to discuss community and sports development. He will visit the National Museum, the School of the Arts, the Singapore Sports School, the People’s Association, and the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay. He will also meet Mayor Matthias Yao to learn about the operations of Community Development Councils and Town Councils.

4 Singapore and Hong Kong enjoy good relations, underpinned by strong economic ties.
