Dr Lee Boon Yang, Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts, will attend the 16 th World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) on 19 May 2008, at the invitation of Malaysia’s Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, Y.B. Datuk Dr. Maximus Johnity Ongkili.

2 During his visit to Kuala Lumpur from 19-21 May 2008, Dr Lee will also attend the first International Multilateral Partnership against Cyber-Terrorism (IMPACT) Ministerial Summit to discuss cyber-security and cyber-terrorism.

3 The theme of the 16 th WCIT is “The Global Impact of Information and Communications Technology: Enable Businesses, Empower Societies and Enrich Economies”.

4 Dr Lee will also call on the Malaysian Minister for Energy, Water and Communications, Dato Shaziman bin Abu Mansor, and the Minister for Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage, Datuk Haji Mohd Shafie Haji Apdal.

5 The World Congress on Information Technology is a premier global forum under the patronage of the World Information Technology and Services Alliance and is held biennially. The event is a converging point for the respected individuals in various fields to share experiences as well exchange ideas and perspectives on diverse subjects with ICT as the enabling element. Malaysia is hosting the 16 th WCIT from 18-22 May 08.
